Christmas Craftsaganza already?!

IT's here again, Christmas. WHAT? seriously, i don't know where the time has gone - it's speeding up, or i am blacking out or perhaps some universal mystery is playing tricks on me.  I love to make things and have lots and lots of ideas....i think i can pull off each and every one of them in extremely unrealistic time frames.
I go for it....and whatever gets made is what makes it to fair.
lots of exciting things are happening in my life - so busy , as you've all gathered, that i don't even post anymore! i've been off the farm more than ever - not here, at my desk, in the kitchen, wandering the countryside. i miss that but times a flyin' so i've got to strike while the iron is hot! Art shows in other towns, products created at other's studios...oh, and then those kids! ;) sports, sports, sports, homework, field trips, volunteering, meetings...yikes!
anyhoo, I miss communicating with you gals, across the ethers, my fine feathered kindred spirits.
come back, come back! xoxo

Yes, it's me. I'm alive!  Art fairs, farmer's markets, commissions and outdoor wonderland have kept me away from my desk.  All this with a dollop of Crohn's disease. ; /

Jewels, Blues and Surprise GIVEAWAY!

Feeling alot like i want to be in this room lately. To be enveloped in a fairy tale cloak, warmed and secured

by magic only a few get to witness.  Wearing a long warm skirt, stitched by someone I love. A time before t.v. and bubble housing markets.  I want to fly away to this place.  Where traditions and fantasy still hold court. Where everyone gathers with lanterns at night and sings.

In my own little way...i've created a bit of that. May i introduce...Milady's Medallions.

Sacred Heart charm bracelet

Milady's Medallions
These are just a few of the combos. More coming to my ETSY SHOP. I am exhausting myself trying to make the photos look perfect - but you will never see them if I hold myself to that standard.
Here you go.

The surprise?

New Productions Debut!

Another show under my belt.
This one made me focus on Christmas waaaay before i'm used to.
Glad though, because you know, it's my favorite!
It's a full on craftstravaganza around here.
And that makes me happy.
Have a look at my goodies

Vintage Swedish tart tins

begged for a little glass and sparkle and a tiny little painting

to then be hung Mardi Gras style on wispy flocked branches

with bleeding hearts and crocheted pearls

royal birds and doves offering olive branches

crisp tea and finger towels ready for guests

next to  some of the old stock awaiting to be discovered by choosey fingers

while the new, and i must say, handsome art blocks await their new homes patiently.
not one sold.

So strange to guess what people you don't know would like to buy. It's such a gamble, these shows. But exposure and momentum have their own.

Tomorrow i will reveal Milady's jewels and a surprise!

Now, off to feed the horses, looks like snow and the husband is still housebound recovering from knee surgery.
I am the one woman wonder at this farm...the Art Farm!

It Takes a Village.....

Husband (left) and friends burning the midnight oil. Tate was gluing the image on the inside of the card! ;/

Husband made me beautiful rustic frames for my prints. A happy customer, Jamie from Arizona.

The tea towels have arrived and left within the first few hours!

Me and Tate, who is not looking very cowboyish for a change.

Michele, my partner in crime who i lovingly call "my left brain". We've been talking about doing this for years, it's finally happening and to top it off, we actually had fun working together! :)

Here i am personalizing prints for display...I dip the ink then hold my breath...one mistake and the whole thing is ruined!

The Milady Productions cards were a big hit! Here is the Estate pack found at my ETSY SHOP

And Woodland pack of 3

Christmas pack too
IT takes a village to make anything happen. I am ever so grateful for those who helped me make this dream come back from its long long slumber...the response was overwhelming and encouraging. I made some significant connections in that little ol park of mine in Ridgway, Colorado.  True Grit with John Wayne was filmed in that very setting. (google it)
who knew?!
Up  up and Away!!!!

A little Space to Reflect and a really crooked bunch of photos

So, what you ask, have I been doing?
well, here is just a snippet. A peek, a quick dip in the daily life
of me.

I taught little children to  believe in fairies and make
inviting houses and gardens for them.

They named me Miss Margaloo and clung to my arms by the end of the classes.

I loved my little friends and their sweet creative spirits.

even if some terrariums got mixed up like a  blender.

Everyday i look to see whos living in my fairy forest
with as much anticiaption as my little friendsnever wanting this green
magical summer grass to end...

And lambie's wool needed cropping again
And my first born blossomed into a young lady
turned 16!
Lambie thought the piglets, Lola and Frederick. were her long lost babies

Some friends opened an artists co op this summer
where i have sold 8 paintings!

Driving back and forth to town in my favorite old red truck.
and by some miracle pulled off a successful show of milady productions - a product line of my art
in our park last week! I won best booth :)

and now...im POOPED but excited and motivated.
did i mention the new puppy?
oh....

I'm A Busy Girl

me 6 yrs
in my daily attire: fancy silk slip and costume jewelry :)

hello my dears, mom, and looky loos!

I am a busy girl. The art show is in 2 days. Print hiccups, delays, over budget and schedule. It's hard getting
things done in a New York minute in Rural Colorado. People don't take the term "deadline"  seriously. I'm busy making it happen - by some miracle, come saturday i'll be sitting in my hand painted world selling, new cards, a few tins and every print i own.
By some miracle. At least the weather is glorioius and my booth is situated under a 100 tree. :)

Poppies and Ponies

We have a sweet little Welsh Appaloosa mix whose name is Poppy. She was Rosie's English horse but really my big dog. No one rides her much these days since she has hoof issues which make her sore from time to time. She reminds me of Merry Legs from Black Beauty. She even opens gates and lets everybody out. I love her rounded Welsh head , long eyelashes and plucky spirit.
Feel like posting, but didn't know what...so here's a alittle tribute to Miss Poppy and the sale of some of my horsey knobs lastnight

Blossom & Dot

Sheep milady in my etsy store
hello, i'm cute

are you my mother?

Rosie and Blossom

sweet little miss Dot

Meet my new love, BLOSSOM.

I recently had a birthday, April 16th to be exact. I felt old . It was a miserable snowy day and nothing about it felt unusually special. A friend left a message about some bum lambs that needed mothering. I had a naughty warm feeling in my heart...and said YES without even telling my husband. Next thing I knew, I was at a lambing shed looking at 1000's of sheep and as many newborn babies. Mr. Field, being a hardened sheep farmer, still had a softness in his way which made the sad bits a little easier. Life and Death. The lessons of farmlife. At the far end of the barn was a little lean -to with warm orange lights and dozens of little wooly newborns and a super nice lady with a baby bottle. Knowing I was coming, she picked a hopeful one out for me....may I introduce....BLOSSOM.

I will be documenting Blossom's progress with a Flickr because, well, i'm slighty obssessed with her. I actually took 2, Dot a teeny little twin who never really had a chance to nurse in the wee frigid hours after birth, stole my heart with her floppy bunny ears and single black dot on her side. I slept with her by my side all wrapped in towels. I held her all day in my lap - a riduculous late spring snowstorm had us housebound. Rosie and I watched the Boy in the Blue Pajamas...a quiet deeply sad movie about the holocaust, while Dot lamely swallowed drops of sheep formula from a syringe. I put her down for a short bit when she peacefully slipped away.

Of course, we all wept.

On a happy note, Miss Blossom is well, blossoming! She is smarter than a puppy and I am totally in love.
The nice farmer said, "you just don't know...some just don't have the will to live"

Blessings Miss Dot.

A little trip to the North

Elisabeth Dunker

I went on a little cyber trip to Sweden this morning and found such delightful things. revisited Red House , Camilla Engman and my newest favorite, Fine Little Day about Elisabeth Dunken's family adventures when she's not designing and photographing (for work that is). Felt like i had lunch with lovely old people and wore my best clickity heels and fashionable hosiery. And wouldn't you know? Elisabeth and Camilla are collaborators and friends :) and are working on a circus themed creation just like me and my 4th graders at Ridgway Elementary! Studio Violet is their shared shop where their circus acts will soon be for sale. I can't wait to photograph my little friends' amazing creations when we install next month. My favorite? Probably Big Mama the red elephant and the motorcycle made out of a spark plug and bits of this and that. This is my third year doing Calder's Circus with a bunch of kids. I come into school with a big box of crap, give them a little talk about making something out of nothing that expresses your vision and then open the gates.... raw art.
Makin' art outa junk, surreptitiously travelling through cyber space and watching free movies on you tube...tis a sign of the times indeed.
Enjoy your life - its free.

Busy Kitchen

"i want the grass to by flying by mom" says morgan as he sketched

Roscoe sketching the Hungry Fox

Birdy-Cow by Morgan

Horse Chase by Morgan Tate Rogers

The Hungry Fox by Roscoe Stone Rogers

Portrait of Lucky by Stephanie Morgan Rogers

The last few weeks have been crazy in my kitchen. I gave up trying to compartmentalize different activities in different rooms and invited it all into my main digs...the kitch. Accounting for 3 businesses took up one long table top while the table we're supposed to eat on was getting a new Jackson Pollack makeover from the little brothers as they created their masterpieces. The cat joined in by laying on and proceeding to eat important documents, while the dog stepped in blobs of paint and tracked it all over my stone floors. But Dad Gummit....look what we achieved!

I'm so proud of my little boy's BIG art. They really got into it...stood back and pondered, added a bit of this and a dab of that...until the magical moment of i'm-doneness made itself known.

I can't wait to take the show down and find homes for these on my walls...they are so awesome, some of the best folk art i've seen in a while. hmmmm(evil paw rubbing) maybe an etsy shop is in order? college funds? ok...maybe just a trip to the movies!
